Key job responsibilities
- Lead design and implement control algorithms for dynamic legged locomotion
- Develop behaviors and gaits that enable the robot to traverse diverse terrain
- Develop methods that seamlessly integrate balance, locomotion, and manipulation tasks
- Create dynamics models and simulations that enable sim2real transfer of algorithms
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to co-design hardware and algorithms for loco-manipulation
- Mentor junior engineer and scientists
Basic Qualifications
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4 years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
- Strong foundation in robot dynamics and control theory
- Experience with model-predictive control and reinforcement learning for locomotion
- Experience with simulation environments such as IsaacLab, Mujoco, Drake, etc.
- Experience with developing and deploying code for real-time controllers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming in Java, C , Python or related language
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- PhD in Robotics, with a focus on legged motion
- Experience with low-level joint torque/impedance control
- Experience with robotics frameworks for fast prototyping (Matlab, ROS, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
