ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer, you will provide organization-wide strategic leadership and set the standard for quality engineering excellence. The Principal QAE role offers a unique opportunity to provide quality and test guidance horizontally across a broad number of teams from large scale multi-surface service development to mobile applications and native in-car experiences.

As a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer you'll...
- Be a strong integrator who prioritizes well and communicates effectively
- Operate as a hands-on technical leader: diving deep into complex engineering challenges, making high-judgment decisions, and driving clarity across ambiguous problem spaces
- Lead and actively participate in test planning and tools reviews, aligning teams across your organization towards coherent strategies and best practices
- Define and own the technical strategy for automated testing using diverse technical solutions including Generative AI
- Define and implement mechanisms to raise the quality bar at scale and solve endemic issues
- Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience
- Provide mentorship to engineers, raising the bar on design, code quality, and operational excellence
- Actively participate in employee hiring and development process

Basic Qualifications
- 8 years of quality assurance engineering experience
- Experience leading large teams of Software Quality and Design Assurance Engineers across complicated cross-discipline programs
- Experience defining and owning the technical strategy for automated testing using diverse technical solutions including Generative AI
- Experience with JIRA, Zephyr, Appium and other common tools
- Experience with software engineering practices & patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, CI/CD, testing, and production operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience participating in employee hiring and development process
- Experience diving deep into complex engineering challenges, making high-judgment decisions, and driving clarity across ambiguous problem spaces.
- Experience providing quality and test guidance horizontally across a broad number of teams from large scale multi-surface service development to mobile applications and native in-car experiences.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $142,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $246,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
