Key job responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data center materials professionals by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, facilitating career growth conversations, and establishing customized onboarding plans for new team members.
- Develop and implement inventory optimization strategies that balance stock levels, accommodate demand fluctuations, minimize costs, and improve order fulfillment across data center operations.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing team metrics, monitoring service-level performance, auditing work quality, and identifying risks before they become roadblocks - escalating when appropriate.
- Partner with cross-functional infrastructure and stakeholder teams to streamline logistics operations, resolve supply chain challenges, and align materials delivery with business priorities.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen the end-to-end materials management lifecycle.
A day in the life
You will start your day reviewing inventory dashboards and operational metrics to understand current stock positions and any emerging supply risks. From there, you might join a cross-functional meeting to coordinate upcoming equipment deliveries, then shift to a one-on-one with a direct report to discuss their development goals
Afternoons could involve analyzing demand forecasts, refining logistics workflows, or collaborating with partner teams on capacity planning. Throughout it all, you are balancing tactical execution with strategic thinking to keep your team aligned and your customers supported.
