What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Manager, AWS Marketing Finance position at Amazon?
Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketing Finance seeks a Finance Manager to serve as a dedicated finance partner to senior marketing leaders across one of AWS's largest investment portfolios. You will operate as the financial advisor for Directors and VPs - owning investment narratives, challenging assumptions, and driving decisions that shape how AWS allocates marketing investment.
You will sit at the table with senior leaders, own the "so what" behind every number, and build mechanisms that make the organization faster and smarter with its budget. Excel is your starting point - the goal is to drive data-driven investment decisions through influencing, partnering, and building trust with non-finance stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities
Serve as the primary finance partner to Director/VP-level marketing leaders - own budgeting, forecasting, investment decisions, and strategic planning for your portfolio
Own monthly close, variance analysis, quarterly R&O, and annual planning (OP1/OP2). Proactively surface risks and recommendations before leadership asks.
Solve cross-portfolio investment allocation methodology - build frameworks that guide how marketing dollars are distributed across channels, programs, and priorities
Drive quarterly investment health checks and build the Monthly Finance Review (MFR) - translate execution, fund hygiene, risks, and IFR decisions into structured narratives
Lead financial modeling for investment decisions: scenario planning, vendor consolidation, and ROI-informed budget allocation
Build systems and mechanisms that reduce overhead, increase speed, and make the team smarter - leverage SQL, Python, and AI tools at scale
A day in the life
You'll spend time understanding what your marketing leaders are trying to achieve and bring financial perspective that sharpens their decisions. A typical week includes advising on large-scale spend decisions, preparing investment narratives for senior reviews, leading MFR discussions with Directors, challenging forecast assumptions with data, and driving proactive fund management. You'll operate with high autonomy, flag issues before they become problems, and earn trust by consistently delivering insights that change outcomes.
