Description

AI is transforming software development. The next generation of developer tools and services will leverage AI to significantly increase developer productivity and software quality. AWS is at the forefront of this AI-driven transformation of the software industry. Kiro autonomous agent is a frontier agent that works independently on development tasks, maintaining context and learning from every interaction.

We are looking for an experienced engineer leader to drive the intelligent multi-agent systems augmenting development teams and helping to move forward magnitudes faster. This position presents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast-growing business and help shape the technology and product. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise, an ability to deliver novel products, ability to hire and lead a team, desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager of this team, you will:

Directly hire, retain, and grow top engineering talent, geared towards Agentic AI development

Be a clear technical voice, working in partnership with your teams to deliver an architecture which will scale with the needs of the AWS business.

Quickly and reliably deliver high quality technical solutions that will delight our customers

Meet with customers to learn and help them shape their own tooling story on AWS.

Work on business strategy to define product roadmaps and execution plans as needed

Communicate clearly to leadership the risks, successes, and roadblocks as part of your product execution

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years of engineering team management experience
  • 7 years of engineering experience
  • 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • 3 years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience
  • 1 years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience
  • 1 years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C experience
  • 1 years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture experience
  • 1 years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
