Senior UX Researcher, AWS Marketplace and Partner Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Arlington, VA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/22/2026
Description

AWS Marketplace and Partner Services (AMPS) connects millions of active customers with thousands of independent software vendors (ISVs), enabling them to discover, purchase, deploy, and manage cloud software. As our product surfaces expand to include chat-based AI and agentic experiences alongside traditional console workflows, we're looking for a Senior UX Researcher who can generate insights across all of them.

In this role, you'll own research programs for key AMPS experiences, uncovering how customers and partners behave, decide, and struggle whether they're navigating structured interfaces, conversational AI, or hybrid workflows. You'll lead research strategy, deliver actionable insights from generative through evaluative studies, and influence product direction across a portfolio that impacts how organizations buy and sell software on AWS.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and execute research for complex buyer and partner journeys across procurement, licensing, deployment, and operations, adapting methods to evaluate traditional console, chat-based, agentic, and hybrid experiences
  • Own end-to-end research programs for significant AMPS product areas, spanning both traditional web interfaces and AI-powered conversational experiences
  • Lead research strategy from problem framing through synthesis and recommendations, using AI-assisted analysis tools to accelerate time-to-insight while right-sizing rigor to decision stakes
  • Research chat-based and agentic AI experiences including trust calibration, mental models of automation, failure recovery, transparency expectations, and user control preferences
  • Influence product direction by identifying knowledge gaps, surfacing unmet needs through rapid studies and functional prototypes, and shaping roadmaps with product and business leaders
  • Define research standards, methods, and reusable frameworks that ensure quality and consistency for studying both graphical and conversational AMPS surfaces
  • Drive cross-functional alignment through compelling insight deliverables, live stakeholder workshops, and presentations to senior leadership
  • Evaluate whether AI-generated experiences meet customer needs, proactively identifying UX/CX quality issues and ensuring products are not de-scoped below acceptable standards
  • Mentor and coach researchers through study design reviews, synthesis critiques, and craft guidance, including methods for evaluating emerging AI interaction patterns
  • Partner with design and engineering to embed research throughout the product lifecycle, from opportunity identification through post-launch measurement across both traditional and LLM-powered features

A day in the life

As a Senior UX Researcher for AMPS, you'll own research for significant product areas: a major partner workflow, a buyer journey segment, a chat-based AI experience, or a critical platform capability that serves millions of customers and thousands of partners worldwide. On any given day, you might be running a diary study to understand how partners manage multi-step workflows across modalities, presenting a strategic insight framework to product leadership, designing a rapid evaluation protocol to test whether an AI agent's escalation patterns meet user expectations, or coaching designers and product managers on research methods for evaluating trust in conversational interfaces. You'll drive alignment across design, product, engineering, and business stakeholders while managing multiple research programs at different stages of maturity across both traditional UI and AI-powered surfaces.

You'll show good judgment when making trade-offs between experimental rigor and the need to quickly derive actionable insights that reduce product risk. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to thrive within an open, collaborative environment while managing ambiguity and competing priorities at enterprise scale.

About The Team

  • Experience owning end-to-end research programs for complex product areas with multiple user types and workflows
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional research initiatives, influence product decisions, and mentor researchers
  • Experience researching across more than one interaction paradigm such as web applications, conversational interfaces, or AI-powered experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Human Computer Interaction, or a related field
  • B2B, marketplace, e-commerce, or enterprise software research experience
  • Experience conducting research with or for ISVs, channel partners, resellers, or participants in multi-sided marketplace ecosystems
  • Experience studying conversational AI, chatbot, or agent-based interactions including trust, transparency, and mental model formation
  • Experience using LLMs or AI-powered tools in research workflows such as thematic coding, survey analysis, prompt-based synthesis, and automated transcription to operate at speed without manual bottlenecks
  • Methods expertise across both generative (ethnography, diary studies, contextual inquiry) and evaluative (A/B testing, unmoderated testing, surveys at scale) approaches
