We are seeking a Principal UX Designer who thrives on building delightful experiences designed for a diverse set of learning modalities, considering learners at all skill levels and across all walks of life. You will lead by doing — rolling up your sleeves to design, prototype, and deliver user experiences that transform learning.

The AWS Training and Certifications team is dedicated to cultivating millions of highly skilled cloud professionals by delivering industry-leading training products and experiences, and certifications. Starting with Skill Builder – a comprehensive hub for all AWS skill acquisition – the team is dedicated to offering deeply personalized experiences for individuals, and highly customizable experiences for organizations across modalities, assessments and certificates. Customers can access training content – both free and paid – from a wide variety of training products such as digital courses, learning plans, instructor led classroom training, simulated learning environments, game based learning formats, hands-on labs, and social cohorts.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of design experience
- Experience in life cycle design projects from design strategy through execution
- Experience with best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
- Familiarity with creative production tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, motion or 3D tools)
- Experience designing tools or systems that incorporate AI/ML
- Deep curiosity about and familiarity with generative AI
- Exposure to agentic systems, conversational interfaces, or LLM-powered workflows
- Experience prototyping with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JavaScript or similar)
- Experience providing and effectively communicating strategic and tactical recommendations based on data
- Experience designing large-scale systems and applications
- A portfolio demonstrating exceptional design thinking, polished interface craftsmanship, and impactful prototypes
- Familiarity with responsible AI principles, including safety, fairness, and transparency
- Excellent collaboration, storytelling, and communication skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders
