Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a customer-focused, solutions-oriented Research Scientist for our Amazon Studios Science team. The team is rapidly growing to support the expansion and increased content development of Amazon Studios and Prime Video. We develop and productionalize products using a mix of economic, statistical, and machine learning models that help answer the toughest business questions in the media space. Our products are used by Amazon Studios to support creative development and investment decisions.
A day in the life
You will work closely with world-wide Amazon Studios teams to develop and improve systems that help the Studio better understand customers and content. The ideal candidate for this role should have experience in big data processing and machine learning (supervised and unsupervised). The systems you build and the algorithms you create will directly impact Amazon Original programming decisions. Your work will help us deliver popular and high-quality content that millions of customers love to watch and talk about.
About the team
The Studios Science Team builds analytical tools to enable Studios and PV leadership to optimally deploy content investment based on projected value, fit with customer needs, content traits with disproportionate impact, and risk-return tradeoffs.
- Ph.D. degree with 1-2 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or a related quantitative field
- Excellent quantitative modeling, statistical analysis skills and problem-solving skills
- Experience collaborating with software development teams, data scientists, business intelligence or other technical roles
- Excellent communication skills and past experience presenting to senior leadership
- Proven track record dealing with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in an agile, dynamic environment
- Experience with Recommender Systems
- Experience with AWS (EMR, Redshift, Glue)
