This training opportunity is for transitioning U.S. Armed Forces (including Reserves and National Guard) members, veterans and Spouses. AWS is looking for aspiring and motivated individuals, with a military background, who align with our Leadership Principles for our Data Center Technician Training Program. If accepted, trainees will be provided both formalized IT training and 12 months on-the-job training, leading to a position as a Data Center Technician with AWS. Data Center Technicians are Amazon’s front line in air-gapped AWS regions when it comes to handling the entire life cycle of a rack. The scope of work includes: troubleshooting and repairing servers with hardware and network issues; decommission end of life equipment; diagnosing data center hardware; and replacing failed components. Candidates must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision and handle multiple priorities. Data Center Technicians will be responsible for day-to-day incident management of servers and networking equipment, project work and capacity management. Trainees must be able to obtain a CompTIA A within the first 7 weeks of hire date. This position also requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements. You will be required to engage in physical data center activities with or without reasonable accommodation. These activities include the following: • Lifting and moving material up to 49 pounds each. • Working in cramped and/or elevated locations. • Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching. • Standing and walking for up to 8 hours a day. • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation. • Working in a noisy environment. • Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts). • Work in physically challenging environment that includes being outside in the elements Upon graduating from program and deploying to your assigned data center, you will be required to work shift work that will include days/nights/weekends/holidays. Classroom and OJT will take place in Northern, VA for the duration of 15 months. Position will be located in either Culpeper, Warrenton, or Alexandria, VA.
