AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all critical power and water infrastructure needed to build and operate new AWS data centers to ensure our customers have continual, scalable access to the innovation tools they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people that can speak on the benefits of data centers in communities where we develop.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, power and water engineers, as well as support teams like public relations, public policy, real estate, legal, finance, and operations professionals to help us deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing critical power and water infrastructure for data centers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced New Regions Strategy Manager to join our AMER Central Team. This strategic role will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive entry strategies for AWS data center infrastructure in new regions across the Central Region. The ideal candidate will combine strong strategic thinking with excellent stakeholder management skills to drive successful outcomes in new market entries. Knowing how power and/or water infrastructure development impacts local residents and businesses, as well as how to effectively communicate the benefits of new development in public forums would make you a good fit for this role.

Key job responsibilities
  • Single threaded owner for community engagement on Amazon’s water and energy usage and communicate the community benefits of datacenter development
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Real Estate, Public Policy, Economic Development, Power, Water, Land Development, External Affairs and Communications teams to develop integrated new region entry plans incorporating best practices and lessons learned

o Planning and executing community open houses and educational events
o Developing educational materials to address common misconceptions about data center operations, power and water use
o Explain technical infrastructure investments in accessible terms and highlight economic benefits and job creation opportunities
  • Serve as primary liaison with key external stakeholders, including city council members, mayors, and county commissioners
  • Collaborate with internal partner teams to develop and deliver clear, accurate communications and talking points addressing community concerns about data center development as it relates to construction of water or power infrastructure and/or rate structures
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local government officials, utilities, and community leaders
  • Monitor and report on program effectiveness; make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes
