As a Family Connection Consultant, you will play a vital role in supporting families through encouragement, guidance, and connection to resources during times of transition and need. Position Overview

A Family Connection Consultant (FCC) works with families in Pima County who are referred by the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) to participate in the Family Connections Program. FCCs receive in-depth training from DCS and provide individualized, family-centered services designed to identify needs, build strengths, and support sustainable solutions.

FCCs meet with families once or twice per week, at times convenient for the family (including evenings and weekends when necessary), and collaborate closely with DCS Specialists and community partners. Services may include—but are not limited to—support with housing, accessing community resources, developing coping skills, enrolling in counseling, and applying for Title XIX or Title XXI services.

A full-time FCC typically carries a caseload of 8–10 families, with a maximum of 10 families, while maintaining timely and accurate documentation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Implement the Family Connections Program in accordance with contract requirements and DCS Standards of Practice
  • Conduct assigned home and community-based visits throughout Pima County
  • Maintain an active caseload of up to 10 families (full-time)
  • Complete weekly or twice-weekly visits and support families in achieving UBSMART goals
  • Initiate contact with referred families within 24 hours of referral
  • Prepare for visits and complete all required documentation within 48 hours
  • Maintain accurate case records and data systems per agency and program policies
  • Serve as a court-mandated reporter, reporting suspected abuse or neglect within required timeframes
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and supervision sessions
  • Collaborate with DCS Specialists, service providers, and community partners
  • Connect families to appropriate community resources
  • Participate in:
  • Minimum 2 hours of monthly individual supervision
  • At least 1 hour of weekly team meetings
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with families, coworkers, and partners
  • Represent the agency professionally and adhere to agency policies, dress code, and safety protocols
  • Identify and work toward professional goals with FCC Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Family Studies, Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children, youth, and/or families
  • Knowledge of or experience with community-based resources
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to attend a 4-day DCS training in Phoenix, AZ
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred
  • Must:
  • Obtain and maintain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Pass a drug screening and AZ Central Registry clearance
  • Hold a valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Maintain a reliable vehicle and required auto insurance

Physical & Ability Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and walk or stand short distances
  • Moderate bending, twisting, stooping, and lifting (up to 40 lbs)
  • Repetitive hand and wrist motion
  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • This role requires flexibility, multitasking, and responsiveness to changing priorities
