Systems Engineer with Network Background domain L3 level
Location Middletown, NJ
Experience
- 5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering or Network Domain
- Proven Layer 2/3/4 expertise, including hands-on experience with:
- Layer 2: Ethernet switching, VLANs, spanning tree protocols, MAC addressing, ARP, QinQ
- Layer 3: IP routing (static & dynamic), OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, VRF, multicast
- Layer 4: TCP/UDP fundamentals, NAT, firewalling concepts, load balancing, session persistence
- Prior experience writing technical requirements - including functional, non-functional, interface, and system-level requirements with full traceability.
- Familiarity with TMF standards and frameworks, including but not limited to:
- TMF Open APls (TMF620, TMF641, TMF645, etc.)
- SID (Shared Information/Data Model)
- eTOM (Enhanced Telecom Operations Map)
- ODA (Open Digital Architecture)
Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to decompose complex systems into well-defined components and requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent).
Understanding of network protocols analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.). - Familiarity with Agile and/or V-Model development lifecycles.
