Duties
- Greet guests with a friendly and professional attitude, making them feel valued from the moment they arrive
- Manage restaurant reservations using restaurant table management systems such as Open Table, ensuring accurate seating arrangements
- Answer incoming phone calls with proper phone etiquette, assist with reservation inquiries, and provide wait time estimates when necessary
- Organize waitlists and coordinate seating to optimize table turnover while maintaining guest satisfaction
- Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure seamless guest service flow
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host/hostess station and waiting area
- Uphold food safety standards by adhering to hygiene protocols and ensuring guest comfort at all times
Experience
- Previous host/hostess experience in a busy restaurant or food service environment especially fine dining preferred
- Strong background in restaurant reservation management and familiarity with restaurant table management systems like Open Table
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on guest relations and customer service excellence
- Proven ability to handle phone communication professionally, demonstrating good phone etiquette
- Experience with POS systems, including Spot On, is highly desirable
- Demonstrated organizational skills to manage reservations, waitlists, and guest flow efficiently
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hospitality standards is a plus
- Prior experience in hotel or hospitality environments can be advantageous
