Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial planning processes.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and vendor accounts.
- Manage tax filings (e.g., sales tax, quarterly reports).
Tax Preparation
- Prepare and file individual and business federal, state, and local income tax returns in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review financial records such as income statements, receipts, and previous tax returns to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct client interviews to gather information on income, expenses, deductions, and other relevant financial details.
- Stay current with tax code updates, IRS guidelines, and state-specific regulations to maximize accuracy and compliance.
- Identify potential credits and deductions to minimize client tax liability.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive client information at all times.
- Provide clear explanations of tax return results, liabilities, and refunds to clients in a professional and approachable manner.
- Assist clients with resolving tax notices or inquiries from the IRS and state agencies.
- Maintain organized records and documentation for audit readiness and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with other staff, accountants, or financial professionals as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role (3 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in office management or administrative roles is a plus.
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. or Certified Bookkeeper
