TexBuy Field Representative

Primary Purpose:

To assist in the growth and development of TexBuy to meet the needs of Region 16 Education Service Center (ESC) clients.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

• Bachelor's Degree required (minimum of 4 years of professional sales experience may be substituted for degree)

Skills

• Proven work experience as a sales representative preferred
• Must provide friendly customer service to clients
• Must be highly motivated and target driven
• Excellent sales, communication, and negotiation skills required
• Must possess outstanding skills in prioritizing, time management, and organization
• Required ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to audience needs
• Demonstrated ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgement in arriving at conclusions
• Must be able to travel frequently
• Must have own transportation to travel short distances between ESC facilities as needed
• Valid state-issued driver's license required

Working Conditions:

• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
• Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing
• Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving
• Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
• Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate occasional regionwide and statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
• Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
• Regular Attendance is an essential function

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Attends eight to ten out-of-region tradeshows annually. Assists with event coordination, event staffing, customer relations, and vendor relations for TexBuy at each tradeshow
2. Engages other Region departments to promote TexBuy in their daily interactions with school districts
3. Makes inquiries about school budgets and purchase plans with which TexBuy can assist
4. Promotes TexBuy and its association with the national purchasing cooperative, Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA)
5. Continually grows the TexBuy Program while increasing membership numbers and membership use
6. Organizes and hosts vendor fairs and vendor attendance at other events, such as PSLA
7. Organizes and hosts lunch-and-learns for key school personnel
8. Attends Superintendent and Business Manager meetings, TASBO Purchasing meetings, and other meetings as needed
9. Assists potential TexBuy members with understanding and completing the necessary steps in becoming a TexBuy member
10. Assists potential TexBuy vendors with understanding and completing the necessary steps in becoming a TexBuy vendor
11. Researches bonds and grants that school districts have submitted or passed
12. Makes appointments and visits TexBuy members and vendors weekly
13. Increases TexBuy membership by engaging non-TexBuy members 
14. Makes recommendations for TexBuy marketing, promotional giveaway merchandise, and attendance at additional tradeshows
15. Establishes communication links with TexBuy member contacts
16. Maintains member and vendor records, call sheets, databases/spreadsheets, and meets required deadlines
17. Promotes and coordinates the activities of "TexBuy / Sell or Trade"
18. Exhibits attention to detail, organization, flexibility, and problem-solving skills in the performance of responsibilities
19. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly
20. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities
21. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region
22. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters
23. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan
24. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program
25. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures
26. Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines
27. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor
28. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor
29. Performs other duties as assigned
