Job Summary
The Director of Patient Care Services Hospice is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality hospice care to terminally ill patients and their families, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This role functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary hospice team, ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care across all settings.
The Director supervises and coordinates all hospice services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. They provide leadership, guidance, and support to clinical staff while maintaining accountability for the quality and adequacy of care delivered.
The Director of Patient Care Services Hospice, or a designated representative, must be available on-site or accessible via telecommunications during operating hours and must devote sufficient time to ensure effective supervision and optimal patient outcomes.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or a related healthcare field from an accredited institution required
- Master’s degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field preferred
Licensure
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
Experience
- Option 1: Minimum of 3 years of experience within the last 5 years in hospice, home health, primary care, or a healthcare facility, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or administrative role
- Option 2: Registered Nurse with a minimum of 4 years of experience within the last 5 years in hospice, primary care, or a healthcare facility, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or administrative role

- At least 2 years of hospice or home health experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of hospice experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with palliative care programs strongly preferred.
