What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrumentation Technician $35.28 to $40.07 DOE position at Amalgamated Sugar Company?
Amalgamated Sugar is seeking to fill an experienced rotating shift Instrumentation Technician position to work in our Nampa Warehouse and Packaging operation. This is a year-round, full-time position offering an excellent benefits package and includes an additional $2.00 per hour for rotating shift work, and 10% bonus paid each quarter.
The Instrumentation Tech is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and calibration of various instrumentation devices, including but not limited to valves, analytical instrumentation, level, and various static and continuous weighing systems. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with photo eyes, reflector plates, conveyers, printers, labelers and metal detectors. Must be able to troubleshoot these individual devices as well as understand the effect each has in regard to the process. New installations may require the technician to be able to fit instruments, run conduit, wire panels, read, and understand electrical and P&ID blueprints as well as perform initial setup procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Must be able and willing to work in full compliance with approved safety policies and procedures.
- Must be willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule. This rotation includes day and night shifts, some holidays and weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Must be a team player and effectively communicate and interact with co-workers as well as internal and external stakeholders such as engineers, plant management, and external vendors.
- Ability to lift 55 lbs., stand up to 10 hours a day, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, and move equipment as needed. Must be comfortable in year around outdoor temperatures, in loud conditions, and working around moving mechanical equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of electricity, controls, and instrumentation.
- Experience in an industrial environment preferred including packaging equipment, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and robotics.
- DeltaV Distributive Control Systems (DCS)
- Allen Bradley, TI, Siemens PLCs.
- Visual Basic, Ladder Logic, MS Excel, MS Access.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational training hours completed in industrial controls, instrumentation and/or electronics.
