Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Professional to develop, implement, review, and maintain the Food Safety and Quality system (FSQS). The successful candidate will develop an in-depth understanding of the National Sugar Marketing (NSM) Quality Manual. They will develop an in-depth understanding of the SQF code for level 1 and 2. This position will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and indirectly to the Twin Falls Warehouse Manager.

Additional Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the FSQS at Twin Falls and surrounding locations.
• Will be expected to work 8 hours (additional as needed) onsite for each location and will be stationed at the Twin Falls site.
• All locations (Twin Falls and any affiliated sites) must be inspected onsite by a set frequency.
• Develop written Standard Operating Procedures for all job functions within the scope of the Food Safety and Quality system using a standard format.
• In conjunction with the QA Manager, review and maintain all documentation required within the scope of the FSQS at the assigned locations.
• Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the FSQS system.
• Maintain HACCP and PCQI trained status.
• Maintain cost controls in all areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for day-to-day documentation of all required facets of the FSQS.
• Keep abreast of all SQF, or related codes to assigned locations, FDA and State Agency regulations relative to our products.
• Establish and maintain lines of communication, coordination, cooperation, and an informal working relationship between other departments of the Company that will ensure that plans, programs, and their progress are in harmony with and contribute to the Company’s overall objectives.
• Assist in maintaining an FSQS training program for employees.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• This is not a remote/work from home position.

Level I – Limited to no food safety experience with less than two years of employment with Amalgamated Sugar.
Level II – Hold PCQI and Internal Auditor certification and either at least two years of experience in food safety and quality outside of Amalgamated Sugar or at least two years of food safety and quality experience with Amalgamated Sugar – Demonstrated knowledge and skills can be substituted for experience, per management discretion.

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field, or a combination of work experience and education providing the skill necessary to be successful in the position.
• Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification or considerable knowledge of HACCP principles and documentation.
• Considerable knowledge of the specific job functions in the storage, packaging and shipping areas.
• Skilled in oral and technical writing skills.
• Skilled in the use of computers and associated equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret safety, sanitation and work rule information & placards.
• Need to have transportation to be able to travel to other Idaho facilities on a frequent basis or as needed.
