Every infrastructure project has to clear environmental compliance before it breaks ground. That work still runs on pen, paper, and billable hours. It is a major blocker for the physical world buildout.

Ama orchestrates agents to complete physical world compliance end-to-end. We work directly with infrastructure leaders (hyperscalers, utilities, banks, federal agencies, etc.) to deliver compliance reports. Our agents do in minutes what typically takes the industry weeks or months.

Ama is venture-backed and making a positive impact on society by building models that better understand the natural world and the built environment.

About the Role

As our Founding Product Engineer, you'll own the product and the agent harness behind every report: what ships, how it's verified, and how much volume it can handle. You'll work directly with the Founder, our Agentic Compliance Engineers, and clients, and you'll build the engineering team under you as we scale.

What You'll Do

• Make AI output trustworthy: Build the verification layer behind every report: grounding, citations, evals, and regression tests that prove each claim against source.

• Own the product: Lead product design and improvement, incorporating feedback and testing extensively for optimization opportunities. Own code review, merges, and releases.

• Scale throughput: Job orchestration, parallelism and cost per report, so we can take on a larger load of environmental reports.

• Ingest anything: PDF parsing, OCR, table extraction, and scanned or handwritten records.

• Full-Stack: Python/FastAPI, Postgres/Alembic, background workers, frontend, etc.

• Orchestrate: Hire a world-class engineering team around you to take on roadmap priorities as we grow.

Who You Are

• You want to work very hard on something that matters. We're transforming an industry, this is not a 9-to-5.

• You have a strong product instinct and have owned product end-to-end.

• You've reviewed and merged production-grade code for a team.

• You ship using coding agents and verify what they produce.

• You understand business dynamics: cost, UX, and why a PR matters to the end result.

• You build things on the side using coding agents.

• You'll intellectually fall in love with environmental problem-solving (e.g. determining groundwater flow direction and what it means for a nearby release).

Nice to Have

• Experience in a regulated field (legal, finance, insurance, healthcare)

• Experience building evals and increasing agentic throughput

• Early engineer at an AI-native company

• Forward-deployed/Product Management/Product Engineer experience

Pursuant to New York Labor Law Section 194-b, the pay range for this position is listed in the job post. Final compensation is determined by skills, experience, and qualifications.

Compensation Range: $200K - $300K
