Kennel Technician

AMA Animal Rescue is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and hands-on Kennel Technician to help maintain the daily cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and general upkeep of our animal rescue shelter.

This is a physically active position centered around keeping our facility and animal areas thoroughly clean and properly maintained. A clean shelter is essential to the health, safety, and comfort of the animals in our care, and we need someone who takes genuine pride in their work and consistently completes it to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Thoroughly power wash, clean, sanitize, and wipe down all dog kennels every morning.
• Vacuum, wash, wipe down, disinfect, and maintain floors, walls, surfaces, animal areas, and shared spaces throughout the shelter.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and general upkeep of the shelter throughout the shift.
• Organize supplies, storage areas, equipment, and other designated shelter spaces.
• Handle laundry, bedding, garbage, waste disposal, and other routine cleaning responsibilities.
• Assist with lifting, moving, reorganizing, deep cleaning, and other hands-on tasks needed to keep the facility clean, functional, and organized.
• Follow all cleaning, sanitation, animal-safety, and shelter protocols established by AMA Animal Rescue management.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is hardworking, thorough, punctual, dependable, and dedicated to both the animals in our care and the organization.

The right person takes pride in the quality of their work and understands that cleaning should be done properly and thoroughly. We need someone who pays attention to detail, notices what needs attention, and is willing to clean, wash, wipe, vacuum, organize, and keep working until the job is completed to a high standard.

This is a physically active and hands-on position. Candidates should be comfortable with physical work, including picking up or moving heavier items, reorganizing supplies, power washing, handling laundry and bedding, cleaning animal waste, and spending much of the shift on their feet.

Candidates must be comfortable working around both dogs and cats of all sizes, temperaments, energy levels, and backgrounds, as well as working in an animal shelter environment where noise levels can become very loud at times.

The shelter can be busy and fast-paced, so candidates should be able to follow instructions, manage their responsibilities efficiently, work well alongside staff and volunteers, and maintain a professional and positive attitude.
