Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and report on residents’ health status by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and documenting changes accurately in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Administer medications and follow care plans meticulously, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical protocols.
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and hydration to promote nutritional health.
- Implement behavior management techniques tailored to individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or dementia-related conditions like Alzheimer's disease.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, case managers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care strategies.
- Engage residents in social activities and therapeutic programs to enhance mental stimulation and emotional well-being while maintaining a safe environment through patient safety protocols.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient observation.
- Knowledge of dementia care, memory care techniques, hospice care principles, and working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), Basic Life Support (BLS), and crisis intervention is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using manual handling techniques; experience operating Hoyer lifts or similar equipment is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for caregiver interactions and conflict management; ability to document patient condition reports clearly.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings or weekends; valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities if needed.
