We are currently looking for a full-time Human Resources/Safety Assistant to support our HR/Safety department with daily operations, employee support, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, and administrative tasks.
Job Summary
The Human Resources/Safety Assistant plays an important role in supporting the HR/Safety department and helping day-to-day operations run smoothly. This position assists with employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, recordkeeping, training coordination, safety documentation, and general administrative support.
This role also includes helping communicate company policies, procedures, updated regulations, and general information to employees and drivers. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, confidential, detail-oriented, and able to handle both routine and complex administrative tasks.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with drivers, office staff, technicians, vendors, and applicants.
- Assist with recruiting, including pre-screening applicants, reviewing applications, checking references, and preparing required paperwork.
- Communicate with applicants by phone, email, and text message.
- Assist with interviews, employee reviews, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation as needed.
- Help maintain accurate employee records, driver files, training records, and HR/Safety documentation.
- Assist with updating and maintaining company policies and procedures.
- Help coordinate new employee and driver onboarding/orientation programs.
- Assist employees with general HR questions, company policies, procedures, and benefits information.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and insurance/benefit providers when needed.
- Help schedule and track employee development, safety training, and compliance training.
- Assist with collecting, preparing, and analyzing information for reports, procedures, policies, and company initiatives.
- Assist with workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work documentation, and restricted-duty programs.
- Receive, review, and document employee complaints, concerns, or issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Help follow up on employee concerns and escalate issues to the appropriate management team when needed.
- Work with supervisors and management on safety-related training and documentation.
- Perform or assist with pre-employment drug testing once properly certified.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR/Safety department and other departments as needed.

Education and Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in human resources, administration, logistics, transportation, or safety is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the trucking industry is a plus.
- Must be willing to become a certified urine specimen collector for pre-employment drug screenings.
- Must be dependable, professional, confidential, and detail-oriented.
