Duties
- Use specialized equipment to accurately locate underground utilities and infrastructure before drilling begins
- Interpret blueprints, land surveys, and utility maps to determine precise drill paths and avoid existing underground obstacles
- Operate field service tools such as backhoes, forklifts, and cabling equipment to assist with site preparation and utility installation
- Conduct land surveying activities to establish reference points and ensure alignment of directional drilling operations
- Coordinate with construction teams, service technicians, and project managers to communicate locational data effectively
- Assist with the setup and operation of cable detection tools for accurate underground utility mapping
- Maintain detailed records of locates, site conditions, and equipment usage for project documentation and safety compliance
Experience
- Prior experience as a service technician or field service professional in construction or utility environments
- Strong knowledge of land surveying techniques and utility locating methods
- Hands-on experience operating backhoes, forklifts, and other heavy machinery on construction sites
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, cabling procedures, and underground infrastructure standards
- Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and interpret complex plans accurately
- Experience working outdoors on construction sites with a focus on safety protocols
- Valid certifications or training related to utility locating, backhoe operation, forklift operation, or land surveying are highly desirable
