Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in West Palm Beach, FL, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s financial management. This role manages general ledger activities, monthly and annual closing processes, and the preparation of financial statements and reports for leadership and the Board. The Controller monitors budgets, cash flow, and grants, ensures compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supports annual audits and tax filings. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising accounting staff, processing payroll and benefits-related transactions, maintaining internal controls, and optimizing financial systems and procedures. The Controller collaborates with program and development teams to provide financial analysis that supports strategic planning and sustainable growth of Alzheimer’s Community Care’s mission-driven services.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in accounting and finance, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of nonprofit and fund accounting, grant tracking, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., GAAP for nonprofits).
- Proficiency with accounting and financial software, spreadsheets, and related office applications; ability to enhance processes and internal controls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in complex financial environments.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities, including presenting financial information to non-financial stakeholders and working across departments.
- Leadership experience in supervising accounting or finance staff and fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification and prior nonprofit or healthcare experience are preferred.
- Commitment to the mission of supporting individuals with neurocognitive disorders and their caregivers, and willingness to work on-site in West Palm Beach, FL.
