Job Description
Marco Destin, Inc., the parent company of Alvin’s Island, is seeking a creative and experienced Fashion Designer & Product Development Specialist to join our corporate team in Medley, Florida.
We are looking for a hands-on designer with strong knowledge of beachwear, resortwear, swimwear, seasonal apparel, and vacation-focused fashion. The ideal candidate will have experience taking products from initial concept and design through material selection, technical development, sampling, and final production.
This position will play an important role in developing apparel collections and exclusive products for our retail stores, with a strong focus on styles appropriate for beach, resort, and tourist markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop beachwear, resortwear, swimwear, casual apparel, and seasonal collections.
- Research fashion trends, colors, prints, fabrics, and emerging styles relevant to beach and vacation markets.
- Create original concepts, sketches, colorways, prints, and product designs.
- Develop detailed tech packs, specifications, measurements, and construction details for manufacturers.
- Select appropriate fabrics, trims, materials, colors, and finishes based on design, quality, cost, and performance.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers throughout the product development and production process.
- Review and approve samples, fit, construction, colors, fabrics, and overall product quality.
- Communicate corrections and modifications to factories and suppliers.
- Assist with product costing and identify opportunities to achieve target costs without compromising quality.
- Understand garment construction, sizing, fit, patterns, and apparel manufacturing processes.
- Help develop seasonal collections based on customer demand, sales trends, and the needs of different retail locations.
- Partner with the Buying, Merchandising, and Operations teams to ensure products meet commercial and brand objectives.
- Monitor development and production timelines to ensure products are completed and delivered on schedule.
- Maintain organized product specifications, samples, fabric information, and development records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Product Development, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of professional experience in fashion design, apparel product development, or a similar role.
- Experience with beachwear, swimwear, resortwear, vacation apparel, or seasonal fashion strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, textiles, trims, garment construction, fit, and apparel production.
- Experience creating tech packs and production-ready specifications.
- Understanding of the complete product development process from concept through production.
- Experience communicating with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Knowledge of apparel costing and production considerations.
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with other fashion design software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple products and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with international manufacturers and sourcing partners is a strong plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, on-site position in Medley, Florida.
