Job Overview

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the timely, accurate, and cost-effective movement of school furniture from suppliers and distribution centers to dealers, schools, and installation sites throughout the United States. This position serves as the primary point of contact between customers, dealers, freight carriers, installation partners, warehouses, and internal departments to ensure on-time deliveries and exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Distribution & Warehouse Operations

  • Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound freight shipments.
  • Select carriers based on service, transit time, and cost.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, and freight paperwork.
  • Monitor shipments from pickup through final delivery. Report shipping details and delivery status of all shipments in NetSuite ERP.
  • Resolve transportation delays and shipping issues quickly and professionally.
  • Coordinate expedited shipments when necessary.
  • Ensure customer expected delivery dates are met.

Customer & Dealer Support

  • Serve as the primary logistics contact for dealers and customers regarding shipment status.
  • Provide shipment tracking information and delivery updates.
  • Coordinate special delivery requirements with schools, contractors, and installation teams.
  • Communicate proactively regarding shipment delays or changes.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with dealers and freight providers.

Warehouse Coordination

  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to prioritize orders.
  • Coordinate shipment consolidation when appropriate.
  • Verify shipping accuracy and inventory availability before shipment.
  • Report any inventory inaccuracies to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Assist in resolving inventory discrepancies affecting customer deliveries.

Freight Management

  • Obtain freight quotes and evaluate transportation options.
  • Review freight invoices for accuracy.
  • Assist with freight claims involving damaged or lost shipments.
  • Track freight costs and recommend opportunities for savings.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate shipment records within the ERP and transportation systems.
  • Generate shipping reports and logistics metrics.
  • Update customer orders with tracking and delivery information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within logistics operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of logistics, transportation, customer service, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience coordinating Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Full Truckload (FTL) shipments preferred.
  • Experience in furniture, manufacturing, distribution, or construction-related industries is a plus.

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar preferred.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based work.
  • Frequent sitting, typing, and telephone communication.
  • Occasional visits to warehouse operations.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Office environment located within a warehouse and distribution operation.
  • Regular interaction with warehouse personnel, transportation providers, dealers, and customers.
  • Occasional overtime during peak shipping seasons, particularly summer months when school furniture deliveries are at their highest volume.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
