Responsibilities
- Measure openings accurately using blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to ensure proper fitment of windows and doors.
- Prepare work areas by clearing debris, framing openings with metal or wood studs, and ensuring safety protocols are followed on-site.
- Install windows and doors using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to secure fixtures properly.
- Perform heavy lifting to position large window units or door assemblies safely into place.
- Hang doors by aligning frames, installing hinges, locks, handles, and other hardware with precision.
- Seal gaps with caulking to improve energy efficiency and weatherproofing of installations.
- Read schematics and technical drawings to understand specifications for custom fabrication or remodeling projects.
- Conduct fixture installation such as trim carpentry, cabinet mounting, or other interior finishing tasks related to window and door setups.
- Utilize locksmithing skills when necessary to install or adjust locking mechanisms for security purposes.
- Apply electrical experience when installing electronic or automated door systems.
- Perform maintenance or repairs on existing installations as needed to ensure longevity and functionality.
- Collaborate with team members including carpenters, remodelers, electricians, and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
Experience
Candidates should possess hands-on experience in construction-related fields such as remodeling, carpentry, or general contracting with a focus on window and door installation. Prior experience with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, metal stud framing, trim carpentry, fixture installation, cabinetry work, locksmithing, electrical systems integration, or remodeling projects is highly valued. Proficiency in using hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers), power tools (drills, saws), welding equipment for custom fabrication tasks, and heavy lifting techniques is essential. Knowledge of mechanical systems related to door hardware or automated entry systems will set candidates apart.
