What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer II position at ALUMA-FORM?
The Design Engineer's responsibility is to manage the design and development of new products for the electric utility market as well as manage engineering activities related to maintaining existing products.
- Develop new product part and assembly designs, drawings and specifications
- Evaluate and recommend specifications and ensure products meet the technical and functional requirements
- Review and analysis of proposed product changes
- Perform feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and calculations
- Manage prototype development and testing.
- Facilitate creation and approval of Engineering drawing changes
- Recommend and follow reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures
- Write test reports for both internal use and for publication
- Work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines
- Technical support for Field Sales personnel
Requirements:
- BSME or equivalent
- 2-5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficient with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks or ProE)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes preferred (i.e. casting, molding, machining, forming, extruding, etc.)
