SUBSTITUTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR - K-8 POOL

Alum Rock Union Elementary School District Position: Elementary School Counselor (K-5) Reports to: School Principal Function: The counselor will assist in developing, implementing and evaluating all services of counseling that promote academic achievement and the well- being of the student. Areas of Responsibility • Provide one-on-one counseling to all students • Assist parents and staff with community agencies referrals • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school and district • Maintain cumulative record folders as required • Participate in the Child Study Team/Individualized Education Program • Work with parents, teachers, staff, and administration to improve student attendance • Participate in all staff meetings • Other responsibilities assigned by the principal Qualifications • A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential • Be enrolled in a counselor internship program in an accredited college or university • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others • Three years of teaching experience (desired) • Bilingual skills in Spanish (desired) Terms of Employment Salary Placement: Teacher Salary Schedule Work Year: 182 Days Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the certificated staff evaluation process Board Approved: 8/9/01
