Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services provides strategic leadership and administration of the District's Business Services Division in accordance with federal and California laws, regulations, Board policies, and sound fiscal practices. The Assistant Superintendent serves as a key member of the Superintendent's Executive Cabinet and is responsible for ensuring the District's long-term financial stability, operational effectiveness, fiscal accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, systems-oriented leader who understands that strong financial and operational systems are essential to supporting student achievement. Alum Rock Union Elementary School District seeks an experienced school business leader with a demonstrated record of systems thinking, financial stabilization, strategic budgeting, and revenue generation. The successful candidate must be able to analyze complex fiscal challenges, develop sustainable solutions, establish strong internal controls, and communicate financial information clearly and transparently to the Board of Education, staff, labor partners, families, and community. Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in education, business administration, or related field - Three years of responsible fiscal and operational management experience, preferably in a public school system Preferred Minimum Experience - At least three (3) years of successful experience as an Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Chief Business Official, or comparable executive-level school district business administrator. - Candidates should demonstrate progressively responsible experience in California public school finance, including budget development and monitoring, multiyear projections, LCFF/LCAP alignment, enrollment and attendance projections, collective bargaining fiscal analysis, facilities, purchasing and contracting, risk management, audits, and state and federal compliance.
