Summary
The pharmacy technician will provide direct support to pharmacists and pharmacy staff in preparing orders, processing third parties claims, packaging and labeling, tracking inventory, maintaining records, and performing clerical duties. The pharmacy technician will work under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager to assist in pharmacy operations by supporting the mission, vision, and values of ALTUS Pharmacy.

The pharmacy technician will provide direct support to pharmacists and pharmacy staff in preparing orders, processing third parties claims, packaging and labeling, tracking inventory, maintaining records, and performing clerical duties. The pharmacy technician will work under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager to assist in pharmacy operations by supporting the mission, vision, and values of ALTUS Pharmacy.
Essential Functions
- Processes medications in assigned area in preparation of final dispensing by the pharmacist.
- Assists in the maintenance of various inventory records, invoices and hardcopies prescription.
- Acts as a resource person for non-judgmental pharmacy questions to medical staff, patients, and visitors.
- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and ALTUS.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships Focus on customer satisfaction and needs, ensuring that patients/customers are provided superior through use of best practices and prompt communication with pharmacist and colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Educational and/or Professional
- High school Diploma or Equivalent required
- CPhT required
- Must have an active Virigina pharmacy license in good standing
- Prior retail pharmacy experience a plus
- Knowledge of laws governing drugs, pharmacy products, and third party plans
- Other Special Training/Skills
- Must be able to concentrate mental and visual attention closely to work
- Ability to work a variety of schedules to as directed by management
- Basic computer keyboard skills preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
