Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic elementary teacher who is dedicated to personalized learning and fostering a collaborative classroom environment. The ideal candidate will embrace Alturas Academy’s instructional model and create a classroom culture that nurtures student curiosity, independence, and critical thinking.
This role requires an educator who is highly flexible, skilled in differentiating instruction, and committed to meeting each student at their level. Teachers at Alturas work in a multiage setting, where students progress based on mastery rather than traditional grade levels, allowing for a more individualized approach to learning.
Responsibilities
- Instruction & Student Learning
- Plan and implement small group instruction tailored to students’ instructional levels.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Foster a student-centered classroom that encourages collaboration, inquiry-based learning, and problem-solving.
- Incorporate higher-order thinking questions into daily lessons to challenge students at all levels.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs, including students needing interventions and those ready for acceleration.
- Classroom Environment & Culture
- Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment aligned with Alturas Academy’s philosophy.
- Build strong relationships with students, fostering a safe and inclusive space where they feel valued and respected.
- Encourage student independence and self-directed learning within the multiage structure.
- Implement classroom management strategies that support collaborative learning and student accountability.
- Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work closely with colleagues to collaboratively plan and refine instructional strategies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, including training on multiage instruction, inquiry-based learning, and effective differentiation.
- Engage in teacher observations, coaching, and feedback cycles to continually improve instructional effectiveness.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on academic excellence and student well-being.
- Assessment & Data Use
- Regularly assess student progress using both formative and summative assessments.
- Use data to identify student needs and develop targeted instructional plans.
- Communicate progress with families and involve them in the learning process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain one).
- Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and learning new instructional strategies.
Employment Information
Salary Pay: Depending on experience and education
Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance and public employees’ retirement system (PERSI) are provided to certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract.
