This role works closely with teachers and school staff to provide individualized support, reinforce instruction, and contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on student success.

Position Summary

The Paraprofessional provides instructional and classroom support to teachers while working directly with students to reinforce learning, promote positive behavior, and support academic and social-emotional growth. This position assists with classroom instruction, small-group learning, supervision, and daily classroom operations while maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support

  • Provide instructional support to students individually and in small groups.
  • Reinforce teacher-led instruction and learning objectives.
  • Support students in developing academic, organizational, and social-emotional skills.
  • Assist students with assignments, projects, and classroom activities.
  • Listen to students read and provide reading support as directed by the teacher.
  • Encourage student independence while providing appropriate assistance.
  • Support implementation of accommodations and interventions as directed by teachers or support staff.

Classroom Support

  • Assist teachers with daily classroom preparation and organization.
  • Prepare instructional materials and learning resources.
  • Support classroom routines and transitions.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Assist with technology integration and classroom instructional tools.
  • Support classroom, school, and campus-wide activities as needed to ensure smooth daily operations

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education staff, interventionists, and school leadership.
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families as appropriate.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school operations.

Student Supervision & Safety

  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned times.
  • Provide supervision and support in the lunchroom, helping maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment while reinforcing school expectations.
  • Assist with morning arrival, bus duty, and afternoon carline dismissal to ensure safe and efficient student transitions.
  • Promote positive student behavior consistent with school expectations.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow all school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Report student concerns, behavioral issues, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting the operational needs of the school, including substituting in classrooms, assisting other teachers or grade levels, supervising students, and performing other duties as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet Idaho paraprofessional requirements through one of the following:
  • Passing the ParaPro Assessment; or
  • Completion of at least 30 college credits; or
  • Ability to obtain one of these qualifications upon hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and classroom technology tools.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and small-group learning.

Employment Information

Position: Part-Time (Approximately 18 hours per week)

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, approximately 4.5 hours per day (morning through early afternoon)

Salary: Starting at $18.00 per hour or $20.00 per hour with a bachelor's degree or higher.

Benefits

Employees working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for participation in the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI).

Work Requirements

  • Ability to reliably commute to the assigned campus.
  • Ability to supervise students in classrooms and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
