Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong understanding of patient care practices, particularly in settings such as assisted living, group homes, or nursing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's quality of life.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in the client's condition.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote cognitive function and social interaction, particularly for those with Alzheimer's or dementia care needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home health care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility support.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to assist others in their daily lives.
