Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Tube Mill Operator, based in Houston, TX. The Tube Mill Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating tube milling equipment to produce high-quality products that meet strict specifications. Key responsibilities include monitoring machinery for optimal performance, performing preventive maintenance, conducting quality control checks, and collaborating with team members to troubleshoot issues. The candidate will contribute to a safe and efficient work environment by adhering to safety protocols and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and tend a cold laser tube mill producing welded stainless steel tubing.
- Perform mill setup, tooling verification, and laser weld alignment.
- Verify staged materials and packaging against production documentation.
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections and implement process adjustments as required.
- Perform quality verification using eddy current testing and acid wash/microscope inspection to confirm weld integrity and surface quality.
- Measure tubing using precision inspection tools and accurately document results in the WIP system.
- Generate production and traceability documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area.
- Comply with all safety policies and required PPE usage.
Qualifications
- Manufacturing, tube mill, or laser welding experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of stainless steel processing and quality inspection practices.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
- Basic mathematical proficiency related to measurements, tolerances, and geometry.
- Strong attention to detail with a quality- and safety-driven mindset.
- Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with cold laser welding systems.
- Experience performing eddy current inspections.
- Experience with acid wash testing and microscope-based weld evaluation.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- TIG welding experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to work extended shifts as required.
- Mandatory use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical components, vibration, and elevated noise levels. Occasional exposure to heat, cold, or humidity. Strong emphasis on safety compliance and quality assurance.
