Industrial Multicraft Maintenance MechanicDepartment: Maintenance 5000Reports to: Maintenance SupervisorFLSA Status:Hourly Non-exemptA day in the lifeYour shift starts with a walk-through of the production floor. You review work orders, check on scheduled preventive maintenance, and triage any equipment alarms. A molding line needs a quick diagnostic—your understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems lets you zero in on root cause, make the repair, and get the team back to producing. Between calls, you bench test and rebuild fill guns and ejectors, log water samples to verify hardness and pH, and swap out a few worn parts on a fork truck as part of our PM program.Later, you set and remove production molds per documented procedures, clean and lubricate critical components, and assist a teammate in troubleshooting a stubborn pneumatic issue using schematics. You might replace a fuse, hang a light, re-seat a minor plumbing fixture, or apply touch-up paint to protect equipment surfaces. Throughout the day you follow lockout/tagout, wear required PPE, keep your area clean, and complete all required paperwork—living up to Altor Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct.What you'll doTroubleshoot and repair building and production equipment; implement corrective actions based on root cause.Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant machinery and forklifts.Clean, lubricate, grease, and oil machinery, equipment, and tools to ensure optimal performance.Assist colleagues in diagnosing equipment malfunctions using manuals and schematics.Handle minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing bulbs and fuses) and assist with basic carpentry and repairs; if licensed, perform routine repairs on electrically powered equipment as directed.Service and replace minor plumbing fixtures.Apply paint/varnish/stain to protect and maintain surfaces.Set up, remove, and store production molds following documented procedures.Bench test, clean, rebuild, and inspect fill guns and ejectors.Collect, test, and report water samples for hardness, pH, and related measures at various process stages.Follow job specifications, task lists, and complete all required documentation.Drive equipment reliability through established preventive and predictive maintenance programs.Work safely at all times, including proper lockout/tagout and PPE use; maintain a clean, orderly workspace.Perform other duties as assigned.About youYou are a self-starter who manages time well, works independently, and collaborates smoothly with suppliers and internal partners. You’re comfortable handling parts inventory and stepping wherever needed to keep operations running.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; two-year degree or technical certificate preferred.Approximately 3 years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.Developed trade expertise with the ability to independently perform standard maintenance and repairs.Additional experienceFamiliarity with MRP/ERP work order processes.Monitoring and maintenance of low-pressure boilers, air compressors, air dryers, and vacuum pumps.Forklift maintenance experience.Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.Willingness to work assigned shifts, overtime, and occasional after-hours meetings.Tools & materialsThe plant provides the tools required to perform job duties. Use of personal tools is permitted if reviewed and approved by plant management.Physical demandsFrequently lift and carry up to 45 pounds. Close vision is required. Regular activities include sitting, using hands to finger/handle/feel, and talking or hearing. Frequently stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop/crouch, bend, or twist.
