What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Supervisor position at Altoona Area School District?
This is an anticipated new Act 93 position responsible for supervising all facets of the special education program for the District, including curriculum, special education programs (Chapter 14) and placements, student discipline, and supervision of special education teachers. This position is also responsible for chairing and scheduling IEPs throughout the District to ensure compliance with Chapter 14 state and federal regulations and due process procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
- Master’s Degree
- Prior administrative experience preferred
- Demonstrated record of effective leadership
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification as a Special Education Supervisor PK-12, or Principal PK-12 with Special Education Certification and at least 5 years teaching experience.
