Position Overview

You support a fast moving, high accountability HR function. You report to the HR Manager and handle core people operations across California. You manage employee relations, onboarding, compliance, and daily HR workflows. You protect the business through disciplined execution, clean data, and reliable follow through. You communicate clearly. You handle confidential issues with discretion. You recenter fast when priorities shift. You create stability even when the process is not built yet.


What you’ll do:

Employee Relations

  • Conduct fair, well documented investigations and present findings with clarity.
  • Partner with managers to address performance issues and reinforce accountability.
  • Track behavioral trends and flag root cause issues to HR leadership.
  • Handle all employee interactions with consistency, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Process unemployment requests end to end with accuracy and timeliness.

Leave Management and Accommodations

  • Manage FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and FEHA requests end to end with accuracy and care.
  • Facilitate the interactive process and document all steps.
  • Coordinate with managers to plan schedules, transitions, and return to work timelines.

Workers Compensation and Safety

  • Oversee workers compensation intake, documentation, and communication with carriers, TPAs, and employees as well as restrictions, follow ups, and timelines without delay.
  • Monitor incidents and injuries and maintain required OSHA and safety reporting.
  • Support return to work and modified duty programs.

Offboarding

  • Manage exit logistics including communication, equipment recovery, and system access removal.
  • Ensure compliance with final pay requirements, benefits continuation, and documentation.

Policy and Compliance

  • Maintain HR policies and ensure alignment with CA employment laws and company standards.
  • Run scheduled audits across documentation, HRIS data, and compliance workflows.
  • Partner with HR leadership and Legal to ensure policies are interpreted and applied consistently.

HR Systems and Data Integrity

  • Maintain accuracy across HRIS records and other systems from hire to separation.
  • Prepare required HR documentation.
  • Pull and verify payroll data before finance processes payments.
  • Track and update key metrics including headcount, leaves, incidents, and turnover.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and support system improvements.

Attendance and Shared Inbox Management

  • Monitor shared HR inboxes and respond to employee messages in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Track attendance notifications and partner with leaders to reinforce policy expectations.
  • Escalate recurring or unresolved issues to HR leadership and maintain clear records.


What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Equivalent experience accepted.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience supporting California employees.
  • Working knowledge of California and federal employment laws including ADA, FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, PDL, wage and hour, and OSHA.
  • Experience supporting leaves of absence, accommodations, and workers compensation cases from intake through follow up.
  • Ability to conduct clear, well documented employee relations intake and support managers through next steps.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to stay composed in ambiguity, shifting priorities, and sensitive situations.
  • High attention to detail with disciplined documentation and strong written communication.
  • Comfortable working in HR systems and using Excel or Google Sheets to track workflows and maintain clean data.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases at once and prioritize without losing accuracy.
  • Curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to high quality work.
  • HR certification (PHR or SHRM CP) preferred.

Work Environment:

  • Must be willing to travel to and from all areas of Los Angeles (approximately 25% travel to other in-city offices)
  • Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs (chairs, tables, etc.)
  • May work during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines


Compensation Range: $76,000 - $95,000
