Our Pekin campus produces products destined for Health, Home& Beauty; Food and Beverage; Industry & Agriculture; Essential Ingredients; and Renewable Fuels markets. All personnel are responsible for the safety of these products, which includes participation in training, following cGMP and feed/food safety requirements in the facility, and following procedures per instruction of management.
Job Purpose: This position is responsible for leading and managing the Commodities Department and employees to ensure commodities are properly received, stored, dispatched, and delivered.
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management may modify this job description as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and supervises commodity department employees, provides direction on projects and tasks, evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions, provides training, and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance;
- Supervises the day-to-day department activities; routinely inspects the department equipment and reports problems or concerns;
- Ensures a continuous and uninterrupted supply of raw material to the ethanol plant.
- Manages supplies, tracks inventory, and orders department supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supplies are available;
- Ensures compliance with state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations, and adherence to quality assurance programs and safety standards;
- Coordinates with other plant department managers to optimize plant operations so that facility goals are maximized to meet the company’s expectations and standards;
- Participates in the development, and the administration of the annual operating plans and fiscal budgets;
- Monitors and reports weekly and/or the monthly status of personnel, production, safety and budgets: financial budgets (monthly); labor tracking reports (weekly); production reports (weekly and monthly); financial status reports (monthly); department safety reports (monthly);
- Develops, implements, and enforces safety programs to promote a safe cautious environment and to minimize safety hazards/injuries;
- Communicates regularly with the Plant Manager to keep him/her informed of production and commodities;
- Prepares capital improvement proposals for storage systems.
- Attends and participates in professional work-related meetings/conferences to enhance professional development;
- Inspects storage equipment routinely to ensure the product is safely contained.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science or Arts or equivalent degree desired, preferably in agriculture or related field; or equivalent experience
- Two to three years working with commodities and production facilities;
- Two to three years’ experience supervising or managing employees.
- Knowledge of grain storage, milling and commodity customer needs
- Ability to plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines in an environment with competing and shifting priorities;
- Ability to supervise and train employees, including: organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments;
- Excellent computer skills; Excel and Microsoft Word, and other computer software;
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Skilled in fiscal budgeting;
- Safety cautious;
- Valid driver’s license
- Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in cold to hot temperatures; work around dust, fumes, and/or moderate to loud noises; works inside and/or outside;
- Able to climb stairs and ladders; walk on paved and unpaved surfaces; sit at a desk and operate a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear, speak, and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, bend, stoop, stand, and reach;
- Ability to work at elevated heights
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
