Registered Nurse - Perioperative

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse with experience in perioperative nursing to join our healthcare team. As a Perioperative Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and effective patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your expertise and attention to detail will ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Preoperative Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients before surgery to identify any potential risks or complications. Review medical histories and obtain informed consent.
• Surgical Planning: Collaborate with the surgical team to create a safe and efficient plan for each procedure, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, postoperative care, and recovery expectations.
• Intraoperative Care: Assist the surgical team during procedures, providing sterile and aseptic techniques, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications as needed.
• Postoperative Care: Monitor patients closely in the recovery room, assessing their condition, managing pain, and providing emotional support.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
• Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond quickly to any complications or emergencies that may arise during surgery, following established protocols.
• Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of surgical site infections and other complications.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest advances in perioperative nursing, attending training sessions and workshops as needed to maintain and improve your skills.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Current registered nurse (RN) license and able to work in the state of HI.
• Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) is a plus but not required.
• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in acute care setting and in perioperative nursing.
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and sterile techniques.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
