Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment & Tractor Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting construction, farming, and industrial operations. Duties

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, bulldozers, and other construction machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications and schematics.
  • Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, hydraulic system servicing, and suspension adjustments to maximize equipment lifespan.
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet specific repair or customization requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including electrical diagnostics, wiring issues, sensors, and control modules for industrial equipment and farm machinery.
  • Inspect transmissions, air brakes, HVAC systems, steering components, and alignment to ensure safety compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize power tools and heavy lifting techniques to disassemble or assemble complex machinery parts safely and accurately.
  • Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings to support warranty claims and future maintenance planning.

Requirements

  • Proven dealership experience or extensive background working with heavy equipment mechanics in construction or industrial settings.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC components specific to heavy machinery.
  • Skilled in reading schematics, technical manuals, and OEM documentation for accurate diagnostics and repairs.
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various outdoor environments under different weather conditions.
  • Valid certification or demonstrated experience in diesel engine diagnostics, brake repair, tire service, suspension alignment, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repair needs and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a heavy equipment and agricultural equipment mechanic.
  • Experience working on diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
  • CAN Bus diagnostic knowledge and experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing electronic control systems preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic issues.
  • Must own a complete set of metric and standard mechanic's tools.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
