Reports to: Director of Engineering

SUMMARY

Performs painting or staining of walls, floors, ceilings, doors, trim, and other building surfaces as required in a professional manner. Responsible for installation and repair of sheet rock or plaster walls as required and for the installation and repair of wall coverings as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs the following tasks including but not limited to:
  • Painting and Staining of all applicable surfaces as required.
  • Repair and /or replacement and/or installation of wall coverings as required.
  • Ensure that adequate paint, stain, and wallpapering supplies are kept in a professional manner and properly inventoried.
• All Work performed must be of the highest quality
• Attend department meetings
• May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of painting principles and practices and prior building or hotel painting experience.
• Experience in wall-papering is required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to perform mechanical maintenance tasks, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms and to climb on scaffolds and ladders. Frequency of lifting or repetitive actions.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and to move objects up to 100 lbs.
• Communication
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings and mechanical maintenance instructions
• Computer skills – Microsoft Basics

The work environment is varied. Work is performed both inside and outside. Outside can be in inclement weather including rain and warm temperatures. Work is also performed in both guest contact and non-guest contact areas.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except in mechanical areas and when using certain equipment. Work involves using various tools, including tools that may be considered dangerous. Protective equipment and clothing will be required. Proper safety precautions specified by the tool manufacturer and/or OSHA must be followed.
