We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to join our mental health care team. The RN will provide direct nursing care to patients experiencing psychiatric and behavioral health challenges, ensuring safety, dignity, and respect while promoting stabilization and recovery.
Responsibilities
· Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
· Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic and side effects.
· Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
· Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
· Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.
· Document patient care and progress accurately in the medical record.
· Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment in compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
· Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in the Washington, DC / United States.
· Minimum of 1–2 years experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred (new graduates with a passion for mental health encouraged to apply).
· Current CPR certification
· Handle With Care Behavior Management System (HWC) Certification (preferred but not required / can be completed during new hire orientation).
· Certification in Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing (preferred but not required).
· Familiarity of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures
· Strong communication, critical thinking, and crisis intervention skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to react calmly and efficiently in emergency circumstances.
· Ability to receive direction and follow policies and procedures.
· Capability to responsibly execute independent and good judgment in assigned duties and maintain confidentiality of information.
