Job Title: Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: LA, CA
Long Term Contract
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptualize, design, develop, and improve free space optical LASER communication systems
Improve/Optimize opto-mechanical layouts
Design optical mounts
Prototype designs for lab testing
Create drawings for Flight
Serve as primary technical interface to development team, participating as the lead technical voice from the factory in
Design Reviews, key technical escalations, and new product development activities.
Support operations team directly by being a high solving power engineer, capable of bringing multiple diverging
technical perspectives together in high pressure escalation moments such as quality containments.- Own the capacity
increase roadmap for production including defining the relevant capital equipment required for rate increase and helping
to lead the design, procurement, install, and qualification of new rate enabling equipment.
EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENT:
(i.e., current ), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5 years experience as a opto-mechanical design engineer
Degree in one of the following areas OR related field OR equivalent work experience:
Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
Optical Engineering (or Physics equivalent)
Demonstrated experience in one of the following areas:
Space systems
Free space optical systems
Precision mechanisms
Demonstrated experience in all the following areas:
Electronics packaging
New product introduction
CAD ( 5 years)
NX / TeamCenter ( 1 year)
Drawing experience w/ GD&T
Design for manufacturability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
10 years experience as an opto-mechanical design engineer
Experience designing:
LASER optical communication systems for space applications
Precision space mechanisms
Experience building optical systems in lab / 100k clean room environments
Experience with composites, designing for composite structures
Experience with designing for athermalization
