RESPOSIBILITIES OF THE DAY PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

Program Leadership
•    Supervise the daily operation of assigned day program services.
•    Ensure programs are person-centered, engaging, and aligned with each participant's Individualized Service Plan (ISP).
•    Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and community participation.
•    Develop structured daily schedules that balance educational, vocational, recreational, therapeutic, and community-based activities.
•    Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance participant outcomes.
Educational Programming
•    Design and implement educational and skill-building activities tailored to varying cognitive and functional abilities.
•    Incorporate evidence-based teaching methods and adult learning principles.
•    Develop curriculum focused on:
     o    Independent living skills
     o    Communication
     o    Social skills
     o    Health and wellness
     o    Technology
     o    Financial literacy
     o    Community safety
     o    Employment readiness
     o    Self-advocacy
•    Adapt instructional materials to meet individual learning styles and support needs.
•    Monitor participant progress and modify instructional approaches as appropriate.
Staff Supervision
•    Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate direct reports (DSPs).
•    Conduct program orientation, ongoing training, and performance evaluations.
•    Provide hands-on guidance regarding positive behavior supports, instructional techniques, documentation, and person-centered practices.
•    Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
•    Develop staffing schedules and ensure appropriate staff coverage.

Participant Support
•    Monitor participant progress toward individualized goals.
•    Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, Support Coordinators, therapists, and other professionals.
•    Address behavioral concerns using positive support strategies.
•    Ensure participant health, safety, and well-being throughout program activities.
Compliance & Documentation
•    Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, agency policies, accreditation standards, and funding requirements.
•    Review and maintain accurate documentation including:
o    Daily notes
o    Attendance
o    Goal tracking
o    Incident reports
o    Progress summaries
o    Behavior support documentation
•    Participate in audits and quality assurance activities.
Community Engagement
•    Coordinate meaningful community integration opportunities.
•    Develop partnerships with local organizations, volunteer sites, educational resources, and recreational programs.
•    Encourage participant choice and self-determination during community activities.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.  Ability to transport individuals

 

TRAINING

All employees are required to complete 10-15 trainings upon hire and on an ongoing basis. Trainings are a combination of in person, which require staff to commute to the main office in Raritan NJ, and remote, using Go To Meeting. All trainings are paid.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitation, therapeutic recreation, behavioral science or a related field preferred.  Experience may be substituted for education.  
  • 10 years experience in an educational setting.
  • Ability to transport clients.
  • Valid driver’s license from the state of current residence.  Acceptable report from the Department of Motor Vehicles with 5 or less points on driving record and no DUIs within the last 3 years.
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to speak, read  and write English language
  • Minimum of one year experience working with adult (age 21 or older) individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities

 

Salary : $70,000
