REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Qualifying advanced degree
  • Appropriate PTSB Certification 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide quality services for the District.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and diagnose specific deficits of students that would meet criteria set forth by Wyoming special education rules for services to students with an emotional disability, an autistic disability and any other health impaired disability.
  • Evaluate and diagnose and/or collaborate with other school personnel in the diagnosis of students suspected of having all other listed disabilities as defined by the Wyoming special education rules.
  • Interpret data collected from evaluations of referred students and share that information in a report format so that parents, staff, and others are able to understand the functioning level of a specific student.  Also from this data makes and shares appropriate conclusions and recommendations for development of an Individualized education Plan (IEP) for the specific student as needed for programming.
  • Recognize conditions, which may lead to student learning/behavior problems and provide leadership with staff members in developing appropriate strategies for intervention.
  • Collaborate and provide leadership with staff in development of programming, methodology, and strategies to meet the educational needs of special education students with behavioral and emotional difficulties.
  • Provide appropriate individual counseling to special education students and facilitate group counseling.  Demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of counseling interventions.  Is able to develop a positive rapport with students.
  • Provide crisis counseling.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative relationship with community child-services agencies and professionals.
  • Maintain ethical and confidentiality standards as defined by local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  •  Provide leadership with staff members in maintaining the necessary confidentiality of information as it relates to students and staff that they work with on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EVALUATION

Performance on this job will be evaluated by the Special Services Director in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.

 

SALARY SCHEDULE

This position will be paid according to the approved Licensed Professional Salary Schedule.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

School Year Calendar, unless otherwise assigned by supervisor.

Employment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.

Salary : $70,750 - $89,750
