Duties
- Develop, plan, and coordinate a diverse calendar of resident-centered activities, including recreational therapy sessions, social events, and special programs focused on memory care and dementia support.
- Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their individual preferences, needs, and abilities to tailor activities accordingly.
- Lead and supervise activity staff and volunteers to ensure smooth execution of programs and events.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and family members to incorporate therapeutic activities that support residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive health.
- Manage scheduling for resident activities, ensuring timely communication and coordination across departments.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress, and feedback to continually improve program offerings.
- Coordinate community outings, resident celebrations, and special events that foster community engagement and enhance residents’ social lives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care environments with a focus on senior or geriatric populations.
- Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or program development for seniors with memory care needs.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, geriatrics, and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to build resident rapport through compassionate caregiving and active listening.
- Leadership skills to supervise staff and coordinate team efforts efficiently.
