JOB DESCRIPTION:
To facilitate learning which enables all students to reach their academic potential while in an alternative placement classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a valid Arizona Teacher Certificate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain high expectations for all students.
- Provide orientation to the parents of students assigned to the Alternative to Suspension Program.
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned to current state standards.
- Provide problem-solving and character-development lessons to promote positive self-esteem and appropriate decision-making skills.
- Maintain positive effective classroom management procedures, which are in compliance with program and district guidelines.
- Assist in promoting the development of leadership skills in each student.
- Monitor students’ academic progress and adjust support, based on data and individual student needs.
- Monitor students’ behavior and adjust support, based on data and individual student needs.
- Regularly communicate academic progress, behavioral progress, and concerns as applicable to students’ homeschool administrator.
- Assess students on district and state-required testing, adhering to testing guidelines and procedures.
- Design and participate in plans and meetings to ensure student reintegration with the homeschool occurs upon successful completion of the program.
- Maintain up-to-date student records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, colleagues, community partners, and administration.
- Conduct parent meetings to promote student success as a shared responsibility.
- Attend Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) and maintain current CPI certification.
- Appropriately train and supervise classified staff assigned to the Alternative to Suspension Program.
- Adhere to all Governing Board Policy and District procedures, Arizona Revised Statutes, and federal regulations pertaining to education.
- Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Nine-month position, Teacher's salary schedule, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
EVALUATION: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
Salary : $55,902 - $93,214
