Clay County is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional to join our team as Deputy Treasurer. The starting wage for this role is $19.78 per hour.

Position Overview

As the Deputy Treasurer, you will play a key role in supporting the fiscal and investment operations of Clay County. Responsibilities include:

• Providing excellent customer service at the counter, by phone, and through mail.

• Processing motor vehicle transactions, tax payments, and real property inquiries.

• Balancing daily receipts, preparing bank deposits, and creating daily and monthly financial reports.

• Managing correspondence, filing, and maintaining accurate financial records.

• Assisting with tax notices, delinquent accounts, and required state reporting.

• Supporting elderly and disabled residents with tax-related applications.

• Collaborating with other County departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education preferred.

• One to two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Knowledge of general accounting principles and office procedures.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with technology.

• Strong communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with the public and county staff.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Full-time, Monday through Friday.

• Occasional overtime may be required.

• Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds and perform the physical functions of general office work.
