Adjunct Math Teacher (Everett Alternative High School)
The Alternative School Adjunct Math Teacher is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. This Teacher is critical to the success of our alternative school program for overaged, under-credited High School Students. The Alternative School Adjunct Teacher must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Mathematics
- SEI Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
- Current Math teacher at Everett High School with knowledge of HQIM and programs used in the department.
- Experience using educational technology tools to support interactive learning.
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and facilitate Math lessons for in-person learning and hybrid models aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Teach daily mini-lessons in Math to small groups of students and one-on-one.
- Experience using or willing to learn the Edmentum virtual learning platform.
- Monitor student progress and performance on online coursework.
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
- Communicate regularly with student families using culturally responsive strategies that foster two-way conversations.
- Embrace a strong growth mindset and engage in professional development that addresses the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps.
- Collaborate with the Guidance Counselor to refer students who require social-emotional support.
- Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are adequately and consistently delivered.
Times: 2-3 nights a week 3:30-5PM- with one additional hour of planning per week
Setting: In person
Stipend Rate: $40/hr
